Some Significant Finds

Here are images of some of the finds we made on the dig, with comparisons from Aston Hall, Birmingham, which we visited on 27th April.

Plenty of window glass found, probably diamond-shaped, but may have been rectangular too. Also a fragment still in its lead - fragments of lead came were also found.

Which way up? The main image is probably upside down, but it is glazed and well finished off - a Jacobean ashtray?! More prosaically, more likely to be a jar or a jug or tankard.

Some fragments of pottery were more interesting than others. This is probably German Westerwald ceramic.
